Fracture Testimonials:

Arm and Wrist Fractures

Casey B.

Casey

Casey is a flyer for the Roseville Jr. Tigers cheerleading team and was injured one day when she was doing a twist cradle stunt; she traveled and her bases didn’t get to her in time so she fell on her left side. “At first it was numb, I felt it a couple minutes after and it hurt,” Casey recalls. She was put in a sling, got x-rays, and was referred by her Primary Care Physician to Rubin Orthopedics. Casey found out that she had a left humerus fracture and was put into a shoulder immobilizer. Casey has had it on for about 3 weeks and wears it all the time, even when she sleeps, and has had no pain for the past week and a half. Casey’s Mom said of the staff at Rubin Orthopedics, “they’re really efficient.”

Mackenzie

Mackenzie is a thirteen year old girl who loves horse back riding. One day while jumping her horse she lost her balance and fell off. She came to Dr. Rubin and discovered that she had a displaced fracture in her left arm. Mackenzie was put in a long arm cast for two weeks and then was put in another cast for another two weeks. After getting the cast off Mackenzie exclaims, “I feel a lot better, I am able to use my arm again. I am leisurely riding my horse again.” Mackenzie shares, “the staff at Rubin Orthopedics was extremely nice!”

Morgan
Morgan

Morgan is an avid basketball player. She began to experience pain in her shins that became gradually worse over time. “At first I thought it was just shin splints but the pain would not go away.” Morgan came to Dr. Rubin, and after getting x-rays, it was clear that Morgan had tiny stress fractures in both of her tibias. She used wraps and bandages for her shins, but she found the best results through rest. Currently she is taking a break from basketball until she is fully recovered. Morgan had a good experience here at Rubin Orthopedics and thought Dr. Rubin was cool.

Kyle
Kyle

Kyle fractured his ulna at work. At first he did not think he had broken his arm, but once he got the x-rays it was evident that the ulna was completely broken through. He came to Rubin Orthopedics and was put in an arm cast. His pain was relieved. Kyle stated, “The staff is very friendly and I am not scared to ask any questions.”

Joseph

Joey was playing catcher in baseball when he caught the baseball wrong; which caused his finger to jam. “When I pulled it, it made a loud popping noise.” His finger from then on was throbbing. Joey came to Rubin orthopedics and they put a cast around his arm and thumb. “I picked green and glow in the dark for the colors of my cast.” Joey was referred to Rubin Orthopedics, but his older brother had come in previously for a finger fracture as well. Joey’s mom exclaimed, “Everyone here has been really great, Dr. Rubin is a very nice, polite, knowledgeable doctor.”

gjRiley

Riley was ruff housing with his brother, when his brother accidentally kicked his thumb. “I was in a lot of pain, and was taken to the emergency room where they put my hand in a splint.” Riley then came to Rubin Orthopedics where he was transferred into a hard cast. “I picked blue for my cast color because it is my favorite color.” Riley got his cast off and his bone has healed perfectly, he is so excited that he will be able to play soccer again. “I thought everyone at Rubin Orthopedics was great.”

ggEmerson

Emerson slid down on an inflatable slip and slide when he flew off and broke both his radius and ulna. His mom said, “He was in lots of pain, his arm began to swell and was misshapen, it was completely obvious he had broken it.” Emerson was referred to Rubin Orthopedics by his primary physician. He is now in his second cast and seems to be recovering well. “We have had top-notch care, the staff is very polite and on time. Amy, one of the physician assistants, even gave us her cell phone number because we were worried about the swelling,” exclaimed Emerson’s mom.

Jackson

Jackson broke is radius and ulna when he fell down four concrete steps. “I was not in a lot of pain but when, but when I looked at my arm it was misshaped.” Jackson came to Rubin Orthopedics and was put in an arm cast. However his bones were not lining up correctly so he had surgery. Dr. Rubin set his bones and inserted a pin, plate and screws to keep them in place. Jackson follows up with castings to ensure the bones heal completely. Once his bones are healed he will undergo a second surgery to remove the hardware. Jackson said, “I love the staff, they’re the greatest. Little kids should especially come here if they break their bones.” Jackson’s mom also said, “ Brad is great with kids.”

Philip

Philip was on a bike ride when he wiped out causing a distal radius and ulna fracture. “I was in a lot of pain and in shock, but right away I knew I broke my arm.” He came to Rubin orthopedics within 24 hours and was put in a long arm cast. It wasn’t until he came in to be placed in a short arm cast, that they took x-rays found his bones were not healing properly. Mike (physician assistant) did a reduction and put him back in a long arm cast for another three weeks. Then he followed up with a short arm cast for two weeks. Philip is now out of the cast and his bones are healed. “The staff here was great, and mike was very good. We met with Dr. Rubin and he was very nice and attentive as well,” stated Philips mom.

Thomas

Thomas fractured his arm while skateboarding. He had heard great things about Rubin Orthopedics, and insisted his primary doctor referred him there. “I had a great overall experience here in the office; the staff is extremely helpful and kind. I met with Dr. Schwartz, and he was great, very reassuring and went in depth about my injury and the recovery process.”

Nathan

"Dr. Rubin is a great, nice doctor. He let me watch him work on my toe as much as I could. Now, after all that, he is letting me play football. I hope that I make it in the newspaper so that they can see how well I play!!"

Will

"When I was on vacation last summer I fell off a wall and broke both bones in my right arm really badly. I had to have surgery to put in 2 plates and 10 screws. Everything healed and a year later Dr. Rubin took the plates and screws out. He also fixed my two scars. I feel better now without the plate sticking out. I can't wait until I can start to play basketball again. Thanks Dr. Rubin!"

NormaleeNormalee

Normalee was at work when she slipped and fell on a wet floor. It happened so quickly she didn’t know what happened. When she turned to look at her wrist she realized it looked differently than it usually did and realized that something must have happened. After searching for a place that would accept her insurance, she found Rubin Orthopedics and “got an appointment really quickly.” She commented that “the staff has been wonderful, everyone has been so nice, and I have no complaint at all. Everyone has been very courteous.”

Leg Fractures

Ryder

Ryder was involved in a bike crash. He was transported by ambulance to the hospital, to insure there would not be any further injuries from moving him improperly. His older brother previously came to Rubin Orthopedics when he fractured both bones in his arm, (ulna and radius). Ryder’s parents were satisfied with the results, and brought Ryder. Ryder had fractured both his tibia and fibula in his left leg. He was put in a glow in the dark, full length leg cast and has not experienced any pain. “We think Ami and Mike are great and Dr. Rubin is a good doctor as well.” Ryder’s parents also joked, “We have four boys so we imagine we will be coming to Rubin Orthopedics a lot.”

Desiree

Desiree was camping, and walked down a hill and fell, causing a distal fibular fracture. She came to Rubin Orthopedics to be put in a cast. “I got seen right away, and everybody here has been great. My overall experience has been decent.”

David

David has had untreated hairline fracture inhis tibia for sometime, “I believe I got it after a car accident I was in at 19.”  He would have consistent pain and said he felt like he had broken it a few times. “I feel the staff here is very nice, I had a really short wait time and the paper work was really simple.” David has a surgery scheduled, and he is happy with his options.

Mark

Mark was playing soccer when he stepped on the ball and twisted his ankle, which resulted in an ankle fracture. His dad called 911 and mark was transported to the emergency room, “I was in a lot of pain and my ankle had some swelling.”  The next day he went to see his primary doctor, who referred him to Rubin Orthopedics. Mark was put in a cast. Even now that his cast is off and he is healed, he still has check-ups due to the fact that he had a growth plate injury. “Everybody here was really nice to us; we especially liked seeing Ami (physician assistant). We also get the right information every visit, and they always have answers to our questions,” stated Mark’s dad.
